How it Works

Please read before placing your order

Here’s how it works step by step

1. Reserve Your Share
Click “Order Now” to place your order and pay a deposit.
Choose from a quarter, half, or whole beef share.

2. We’ll Be in Touch
About 2–3 weeks before harvest, you’ll receive an email from us with:
Harvest timing details
A sample cut sheet from the butcher

3. Humane Harvest
Your cattle are harvested by experienced professionals using a humane, clean process.
Your share is clearly labeled during aging and processing.

4. Hanging Weight & Final Invoice
After harvest, we’ll send you:
The hanging weight of your share
Your final invoice from JustLiving Farm
Payment and pickup details

5. Farm Payment
You’ll pay the farm for the hanging weight of your beef plus the slaughter fee.

6. Pick Up Day!
Once processing is complete, the butcher will contact you directly.
You’ll pick up your beef at the butcher shop and pay them separately for cut and wrap services.

Payments:

  • Final payment, minus your deposit will be invoiced via email. Payment can be made online or by check. Instructions will be provided with your emailed invoice. 
  • Payment for cut and wrap will be due to the butcher shop when you pick up your meat. 
  • Please email us if you’d prefer to pay for the deposit via check

How much freezer space do I need? is often the first question asked when buying shares. The following graphic gives a good idea of what you will need. Most folks are surprised how easy it is to have a freezer at home. For instance, we have many buyers who live in an apartment and have found a 3-4 cu-ft freezer fits easily into their space. And most of all, this is a one-time expense to gain quality beef for your household.
